The Challenge
Surf Cafe needed a brand identity that could authentically blend two deeply rooted cultures: surf and specialty coffee. The challenge was creating a brand that felt elevated and intentional without losing the relaxed, approachable energy that makes coastal coffee culture feel personal and community-driven.
Beyond designing a logo, the goal was to build a scalable brand system that could establish Surf Cafe as a recognizable destination brand with the flexibility to grow into future locations, merchandise, packaging, and digital experiences. The identity needed to resonate with both dedicated surfers and everyday coffee customers while standing out in an increasingly crowded cafe market.

The Solution
We developed a brand strategy centered around the intersection of coastal lifestyle, community, and craft coffee culture. The visual identity combined clean, modern typography with surf-inspired influences that reflected movement, warmth, and simplicity without leaning into overly cliché beach aesthetics.
The creative direction extended across logo systems, typography, color palette, messaging, and brand applications designed to feel flexible across physical spaces, merchandise, packaging, and digital touchpoints. The tone of voice was intentionally welcoming, relaxed, and community-oriented to reinforce Surf Cafe as more than just a coffee shop, but a gathering place for both locals and visitors.
The result was a cohesive and scalable identity system that helped position Surf Cafe as a modern coastal brand with strong lifestyle appeal and long-term growth potential.

As Creative Director, I led the overall creative vision, client collaboration, and design strategy for the Surf Cafe brand. My role included guiding brand positioning, overseeing visual identity development, shaping messaging direction, and managing the creative process from initial discovery through final brand delivery.
